The key objective of Voluntary Reporting System (VRS) is to enhance aviation safety and security through the collection of reports on actual or potential safety/security deficiencies that would otherwise not be captured by mandatory reporting systems. VRS is a voluntary, non-punitive and confidential reporting system established by the CAA in line with ICAO ANNEXes 17 and 19 & ICAO SMM Document 9859...more...
You should make a VRS report when you have any information that could help in improving aviation safety or security but it has not been reported through any existing channel(s) OR you wish for others to learn and benefit from any occurrence or hazard, but are concerned about protecting your identity.
VRS pays particular attention to the need to protect the reporter’s identity when processing all reports. The VRS administrators will de-identify the information and enter data into the VRS database. Should there be need to seek inputs from any third party, only the de-identified data will be used.
In case you want to learn more about VRS, please communicate with VRS Administrator on safety@kcaa.or.ke (for safety hazards) and mavsec@kcaa.or.ke (for security incidents).
